It is Easy to Travel to the Vaasa Region

Vaasa has excellent transportation connections, and it is easy to reach us regardless of where you are coming from. The airport is only 10 minutes from the center of Vaasa, and the railway station is located in the city center. The daily ferry connection to Umeå in Sweden provides a perfect opportunity to visit two countries and two cities, even on the same day.

Vaasa Railway Station

The railway station is located in the city center, making it convenient to reach Hotel Vallonia. Regular train connections are available from Helsinki and other major Finnish cities.

Travel time from Helsinki: approximately 4 hours

From the station, Hotel Vallonia is about 15 minutes by taxi or local bus.

By Plane

Vaasa Airport

Regular flights from Helsinki and Stockholm. The airport is only 10 minutes from the center of Vaasa, making it one of the most conveniently located airports in Finland.

Taxi or rental car services are available at the airport for the short journey to Hotel Vallonia in Mustasaari.

By Ferry

Wasaline Ferry (Umeå-Vaasa)

The daily ferry connection between Umeå, Sweden and Vaasa Harbour provides a perfect opportunity to visit two countries and two cities. This scenic route across the Gulf of Bothnia takes approximately 4 hours.

The harbour is about 15 minutes from Hotel Vallonia by taxi.

Drive to the Vaasa Region

If you're traveling with your own car, the Vaasa region is easily accessible regardless of where you're coming from – and for the most part, the road is straight.

Approximate travel times to Vaasa:

Practical Information

Accommodation

All accommodation is included in your registration fee at Hotel Vallonia for the duration of the program (August 14-16, 2026).

Check-in Time

The Academy program begins on Friday, August 14 at 12:00 (UTC+3). We recommend arriving before noon to settle in and be ready for the opening session.

What to Bring

  • No gala dress needed – Sunday graduation day dresscode is smart casual
  • Theme costume (you will hear more about it in the pre-event online)
  • Swimsuit for sauna & swimming
  • Outdoor clothing and good walking shoes – we will do some walking outside but nothing heavy
  • Comfortable clothing for indoor sessions
  • Laptop or tablet for note-taking (optional)
  • Personal toiletries (hotel provides towels and basic amenities)
  • An open mind and readiness to learn
